Natursutten Natural Rubber Pacifier - Orthodontic

SGD10.50

The Danish word Natursut means "Natural Pacifier". The Natursutten Pacifiers (also known as dummy or soother) is made from pure, 100% natural rubber from the tree Hevea Brasiliensi. The protein that on rare occasions can provoke a latex allergy is removed from the rubber mass used for these soothers. This means, that there is no risk of latex allergy when using them.

The pacifiers are softer than silicone pacifiers and extremely hygienic because they are molded in one piece. This means there is no joints or cracks where dirt and bacteria can accumulate. The pacifier shield is larger than conventional shields to help protect babies from squeezing the flexible material enough to get into their mouth.

Which shape of Pacifier should I choose?
The 'Cherry' (round) design works better for breast-fed babies, because the tongue is positioned under the pacifier as it is during breast-feeding, helping prevent nipple confusion. With the orthodontic design, a slant on the tip of the pacifier encourages tongue movement against it (as opposed to under it), and the tongue's pressure is directed towards the tip. About 80% of babies tend to move pacifiers around in their mouths. Because the tongue’s position never changes, European midwives recommend starting babies on rounded pacifiers. Natursutten makes the rounded-nipple model in four different sizes to grow with your baby.

The orthodontic shape, however, is the most popular in the U.S. The tip of the nipple is slanted to encourage tongue movement against it (as opposed to under it), and the tongue’s pressure is directed towards the tip. For babies who are already accustomed to the orthodontic shape with the slanted nipple tip, Natursutten offers this pacifier in two different sizes.

Instructions for Use
Natursutten pacifiers must be washed carefully after every use under running water; they should be sterilized for babies younger than six months of age. To sterilize, put the pacifier in a pot with cold water, bring the water to a boil, and while boiling, keep the pacifier submerged by holding it under with a wooden spoon (ensure that the pacifier does not touch the bottom of the pot). After two minutes, remove the pacifier from boiling water and place on a clean kitchen towel. Pacifiers can also be sterilized in a steam sterilizer (though we do not recommend the use of a microwave sterilizer though).

Before you use the pacifier for the first time, use the submersion method for 5 minutes, or a steam sterilizer for 10 minutes.
Inspect the pacifier before each use: if it sticks together when squeezed, replace immediately. The more use the pacifier gets, the more often it should be inspected by stretching it in different directions and making sure it remains intact. If the pacifier exhibits any damage as a result, please replace it immediately. Never dip a pacifier into sweet beverages or medicine before use as this may cause tooth decay.
Put the pacifier aside during intense play. Remove promptly from mouth when baby falls asleep. Never use the pacifier to calm the baby, without knowing the cause of the baby's complaining (like hunger or a soiled diaper). For breast-fed babies, it is advised to introduce the pacifier only after the baby has mastered breast feeding. Natursutten pacifiers will change colour slightly over time with use and should be replaced every 4 to 5 weeks, or as needed.
